It all began twenty-two years ago when a flourishing prayer group of 50 or more
Christians were meeting weekly at Holy Family Church in Preston.
We were
all seeking – some had even found – a new relationship with God and many were
baptised with the gifts of the Holy Spirit and came to openly declare Jesus
Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour – it was an exciting time!
Having been awakened as it were, most of us needed to devour spiritual books – books of testimonies – how God was working in the lives of others and most especially the Bible – God’s word to His people.
We began a book agency so that prayer group members could purchase books after the meetings and eventually the opportunity came when we could begin in a small way to have a bookshop.

We needed about £3,000 – remember this was 22 years ago! – and after asking all local prayer groups to come before the Lord in prayer for the bookshop’s intentions we had a “gifting day” (a very Anglican idea at the time) and raised the money in just over six hours. We felt this was God’s approval of our plan.
Since then we have grown in strength simply because it is His bookshop. Our principle aim has always been to spread the good news amongst the people of God.

To this end we have offered book agencies to parishes on a sale or return basis so they have no outlay, exhibitions in schools up and down the country and last, but not least, a personal service in the bookshop where a warm welcome is always assured and the opportunity to pray with others if requested.

| Father Peter: At 'Holy Family Church' |
We all feel very blessed to be part of the parish team headed by our wonderful Parish Priest Father Peter Dolan. We have completed eleven Alpha courses in the parish – soon to commence our third marriage course and we are part of a very lively worshipping community. Our 10 o’clock Mass on Sunday is a most joyous occasion where we come to meet Christ in a special way both through each other and especially in the Eucharist – why not join us?!
